The SOULERS : Soul, Jazz & R & B
The Soulers is an Asturian band formed by Alfonso Castrillo (drums), Esther Yuste (vocals), Sonsoles Rodríguez (keyboard and backing vocals), Gustavo Pérez (guitar and backing vocals), José R. Ibáñez (bass) and Kiko Flores (saxophone). Its six members come from different worlds and musical styles at a professional level, which provides great versatility and eclecticism to a sound that finds its connecting link in soul.
The band was born in 2019 and debuted on stage participating in the ‘XXIII Rock City of Oviedo Contest’, and after months of intense creative work and good feelings, the project grows and sees the light of its first LP ‘From side to side’ (2020), a nine-song album full of Soul, Jazz and R&B nuances. In 2022, a second studio work of the same name, the EP The Soulers, was released, in which an evolution and greater compositional homogeneity can be seen, looking towards neo soul and funk. These new compositions combine an interesting mix of influences and musical references that keep alive those reminiscences of North American popular music already present in their debut album, and which define a clear evolution of the group.
During the last two years they have participated in numerous cycles and circuits touring the peninsula, sharing the stage with renowned artists and bands from the international soul/blues scene, such as JP Bimeni, Carlton J. Smith, Lehmanns Brothers, Vanessa Collier; Travellin’ Brothers, or Alexis Evans, among others.
