Amparo Sanchez

Amparo Sánchez (1969) was born in Alcalá la Real, Jaén. At the age of two, she moved with her family to Granada, where, as a teenager, she took her first steps in music, joining groups such as Correcaminos, La Blues Band de Granada, and Amparo & The Gang. Her next stop was Madrid, where, accompanied by her guitar, she toured the bars and clubs of Malasaña and Lavapiés. In 1996, she emerged on the Spanish music scene as Amparanoia. Since then, she has been considered a pioneer in fusion and mestizo music. She has released eight albums and toured throughout Europe and Latin America, becoming the most sought-after international artist and a leading figure in this movement.

After closing this stage of Amparanoia, the artist reappeared in 2009 as Amparo Sánchez with her first solo album recorded between Arizona and Cuba with Calexico, an intimate and very personal album, followed by a second work, Alma de Cantaora, in 2012, with collaborations with La Abuela Margarita, Bebe, How Gelb, Muerdo, Ariana Puello, and Depedro, among others, to finish the trilogy in 2014 with Espíritu del Sol, recorded again in Tucson with Calexico, companions on this trip.
