Carmen París is a composer, pianist, and lyricist who has revitalized the Aragonese jota and brought a fresh perspective to folklore by masterfully blending it with rhythms and melodies from the Mediterranean, Africa, and the Americas.
Since releasing her first album in 2002, she has garnered critical and public acclaim for her open-minded fusion of diverse musical styles, including habanera, chotis, ranchera, cha-cha-cha, and rhythms from Brazilian and Cuban folklore, among others.
On her fourth album, “Ejazz con Jota,” the jota is performed for the first time accompanied by a jazz orchestra of renowned American musicians. The tour for this album ran for three successful years in Spain and France, earning her the Contemporary Music Award.
