Quinn DeVeaux

November 23|6:00 pm-9:00 pm

American Quinn DeVeaux will arrive in November, to surprise with his mix of Soul, Funk and R&B.

Quinn DeVeaux spent his childhood living with his grandmother, a former jazz singer, forty kilometers from Chicago in Gary, Indiana, the birthplace of the Jackson 5. Due to economic decline, DeVeaux, still a teenager, headed west with only a guitar and his gifted voice.

He eventually found his way to San Francisco, where he was a founding member of Blue Roots, a short-lived but almost mythical group that operated in the Mission District at the beginning of the millennium. Besides DeVeaux, the group included Lech Wierzynski and Nansamba Ssensalo, the duo who would later form California Honeydrops, and bassist Nate Brenner of Tune-Yards. Quinn would release a series of highly regarded albums in the following years, earning praise from the music press and amassing fans with his energetic, dance-filled live shows.

DeVeaux has been praised for “distilling decades of American blues, country, soul and gospel into a funky sound that is both authentic and refreshing.”
