Iosu Izaguirre Sextet
November 30|1:00 pm-3:00 pm
Although Iosu Izaguirre began his musical journey as a self-taught musician—influenced by the prevailing musical style in the Basque Country during the 1980s and 90s—his professional career is marked by his ability to adapt to diverse musical styles and contexts, from symphony orchestras and film productions to collaborations with artists such as Mikel Laboa, Gari, Ruper Ordorika, Mikel Urdangarin, Bingen Mendizabal, and Betagarri.
All these experiences have enriched his musical imagination, where different traditions naturally coexist, lending character to his own compositions and arrangements in a repertoire deliberately accessible to all audiences.
Izaguirre’s commitment to music education and outreach is a cornerstone of his career. His ability to transmit his passion for jazz to his students naturally extends into his concerts with a sextet that combines energy and experience; a group of friends who have been honing their chemistry and sound concert after concert:c(double bass), Rubén Salvador (trumpet), Pablo Ramos (alto saxophone), Asier Iturbe (trombone), Koldo Uriarte (piano), and Aitor Bravo (drums) invite the audience to explore the inner workings of music and its context without prejudice. Performing live from their second album: Ilusio
