Hilario Rodeiro Quinteto “Pausa”

May 24|7:30 pm-10:00 pm

Pausa is Hilario Rodeiro’s new album, a sonic journey that explores silence and calm. Influenced by the European jazz of Bobo Stenson and Mats Eilertsen, Rodeiro fuses traditional music and modern jazz, creating a dialogue between the past and the present. With his quintet, made up of prominent musicians such as Juan de Diego, Eneko Dieguez, Julen Izarra, and Kike Arza, the album reflects on the perception of time and those moments of pause that mark everyday life.

Hilario Rodeiro, a Galician musician born in Santiago de Compostela in 1981 and based in Gipuzkoa for the past 15 years, has forged an international career that has led him to collaborate with renowned artists such as Gordon Lee, Sabine Kühlic, Chris Kase, and Deborah Carter. He has also been part of emblematic groups such as Pamplona Jazz Orchestra, R.S.Faktor, CiTriC, and Los Wachisneis, among many others.

As a composer, his creativity knows no bounds. He has created soundscapes for contemporary dance shows such as Luz Negra, Orígenes, and Transoceánica (Dinamo Danza), as well as for the work Nikola (Atalak). His work has been recognized with notable awards, such as the BBK Award for Best Album (2012, with R.S.Faktor) and the 5th Barcelona Jazz Contest (2009, with CiTriC), in addition to winning the Academy of Music Award in 2006 for his work with Mama Cabra.

Rodeiro has established himself as a leading figure in contemporary jazz and experimental music, combining tradition and avant-garde in a unique and exciting offering.
