K’tam
July 8|6:00 pm-10:00 pm
K’tam is formed by four excellent musicians from different backgrounds and great experience, who have come together in this creative space designed to bring together different sound sensations, with a markedly eclectic and sophisticated character. A project in which African and Latin American rhythms masterfully converge under contemporary jazz and flamenco fusion premises.
On one hand, guitarist and composer Jorge Pisa “El Boli”, has collaborated with artists such as Farruquito, José Mercè, Pepe Bao, Raimundo Amador. He has consolidated himself as one of the most important guitarists in contemporary flamenco. On the other hand, pianist, producer, arranger and composer Adrián Royo has had a fruitful and recognized career with different projects and artists, either as a writer, producer or arranger, crowning his career with the acclaimed and award-winning first album release called Pangea. Javier Rodríguez has a long career as a bassist, contrabassist, arranger and composer, working in a wide variety of musical styles and trends, collaborating with different artists and realizing a solid career as a session musician with names such as Barbara Mason, Lenny Williams, Dan Penn or Betty Lavette. Finally, Álvaro López is an outstanding percussionist specialized in flamenco. A very active musician and reference in Barcelona scene, he has collaborated in numerous shows such as Barcelona y Flamenco with artists like Antonio Canales, Jorge Pardo, Juan Gómez Chicuelo or Tati Amaya.
Mosaico de luz is a dynamic album, full of sensitivity, a record that opens your eyes to a full of varied sonic essences world, supported by an excellent production, as well as a more than notorious and original instrumental manufacture. Recorded and mixed at Pottoko Studios in Beasain by Fredy Peláez, it perfectly defines K’tam versatile and open character. A cultural bridge that takes shape in eight of their own compositions that travel through the luminous and mestizo spirit from songs like Otros aires or Ruta de la plata, inviting us to an exciting journey through jazz with Brazilian rhythms on SCL-MIR-BCN to give us the gift of bulerías on Volando. Both Álvaro López and Javier Rodríguez create the perfect rhythmic scaffolding on which they support Adrian Royo piano jazz evolutions melted with Latin rhythms on Line 1, While Jorge Pisa “El Boli” signs Mosaico de luz beautiful melodies, giving title to a record that follows the paths of flamenco palos to recreate an original and genuine language on compositions like Soleá pal compadre or contributing a magnificent palette of sonorous colors on ¿Dónde dejaste el duende? clearly demonstrates a clear cosmopolitan vocation that brilliantly synthesizes the creative essence of this project throughout the album.
