MIGUEL MOLDES : Fairground Ballads

Miguel Moldes is a musician originally from Sanxenxo, trained in bands such as Dead Wood and Los Wavy Gravies, who launched his singer-songwriter project in 2022. This project originated in Luleå, a city located in northern Sweden, where a long winter shaped a sound that combines folk heritage with essences of blues, rhythm and blues, and gypsy jazz. Influenced by artists such as John Fullbright, Nathaniel Rateliff, and Eileen Jewell, among others, he began this project as a solo artist, combining voice with guitar and banjo, pursuing minimalist compositions in which the songs themselves take center stage.

Fairground Ballads is the studio debut of this project, as well as the introduction of a band format composed of Sandra Gómez (Sanny) (keyboards, acoustic guitar, and vocals), Anxo Paz (drums and percussion), and Alejandro Neira (bass). This EP, recorded at Escusalla Sonora (Pontedeva, Ourense) and produced by Javier Vicalo, was born from the clear premise of achieving an organic sound faithful to the live performance. Consisting of eight tracks, it centers on the figure of the fair, used as a representation of the passage of time and the nostalgia and disappointment it entails.
