Great music and atmosphere during blues week
When you work hard, sooner or later you achieve your goals. And that is what happened at the sixth edition of the BLUES HOTSAK music festival.
There were extensive synergies between various groups (a group of tavern owners, the Kontrargi photography group, the Pil-Pilean Basque language association, the Baso Biziak environmental association, the local reading club, Debegesa-Dólmenes, Musika Eskola and others).
We are pleased that different areas were worked on (music, literature, cinema, photography, youth…). Also because participation was high. This year, the number of visitors also increased.
Starting on Monday with Lide Hernando, we had debates and interviews with the musicians. There was the opportunity to listen to different areas of black music: an international soul band, mixed melodies, leading blues groups from Euskal Herria and the State, with a powerful group from the Netherlands to end the week. In addition to the Basque artists, musicians from Africa, the USA and Europe.
The novelty this year was the concerts scheduled in the street on Sunday morning. Successful and festive. All the musicians were happy with the response from the audience, with the local food, with the treatment received and because even the town liked it (very nice). The same with the visitors. In general, good atmosphere and joy. The weather was good.
We do not want to forget (Txabi Labaien always in our hearts) the work done by the technicians (Peio, Juanbau and Xabi): clean, quality sound and ready to solve any problem. Without forgetting the local brigade, who more than fulfilled their role when setting up the stages. The City Council, as always, collaborated positively.
It is worth highlighting the effort made by the Music School: this year they gave a new meaning to their function by telling and singing the history of the blues with the participation of the entertaining presenter. 50 student-teachers participated and they have promised to continue for next year. Thanks to Nagore, Domentx, Aitor and everyone else for their work.
The bar has been set high with what we believe that from now on Blues Hotsak will be an event to be taken into account among lovers of quality music from Euskal Herria – and from outside –.
In any case, there are always things to improve and from now on we will start to outline the Blues Hotsak 2025 festival.
Thanks to all of you who have made it possible this year!
