Martha Fields’ country music in Eibar, Basque Country
Born with roots music in her blood, Martha Fields comes from a long line of Appalachian musicians from the hills of eastern Kentucky and West Virginia. She blends the influence of her Texan father with her mother’s Appalachian roots in an exciting fusion of genres. A self-taught guitarist, she began writing songs at an early age and has shared the stage with country legends such as Ricky Lee Skaggs and Merle Travis. “The band you dream of stumbling upon in a Nashville bar. Just when you thought country music had lost its steam, Martha Fields, with a sound similar to that of her country cousin Lucinda Williams fronting the Tennessee Three, has dusted off the music of an era and given it a major boost.” (A. Harrison, Maverick and No Depression).
This Texan troubadour embodies a hundred years of country, folk, bluegrass, and rock ‘n’ roll history, with a spirit of authenticity and palpable sincerity.
The band has toured Europe, from the United Kingdom to France, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland, and Lithuania. They have played at some of the most prestigious country/Americana festivals and venues in the Old Continent.
