Ewesé

10.00

Ukrainian double bass player, singer and composer Olga Pyekur together with guitarist and composer Alex Comín present their brand-new project Ewesé. A record that brilliantly transcends any kind of label, claiming to be a subtle and profound poetic and musical exercise, addressing such diverse and original parameters as Ukrainian folklore, traditional music, pop and, of course, jazz, the genre from which both artists come and in which they have been developing their careers.

Ewesé is a gathering place for two great musicians who share a long professional career and who make this first recording an intimate, perfect place, very personal and full of beauty. The place where duo’s exquisite vocal and instrumental craftsmanship abound in their own compositions such as Ay la noche, emotional traditional Ukrainian music covers such as Goyda Goy lullaby, along compositions from Russian music such as the melancholic Y en la despedida te diré by composer Andrey Petrov and text by writer Bella Akhmadulina. An essential line-up and instruments masterful combination on compositions such as Tu luz, signed by Pyekur and Comín and dedicated to their son, Para siempre or Ukrainian traditional Ay, gatico propose different textures and treatments, taking us on a journey full of electric colors on the beautiful Sólo hay un instante, Russian traditional Mañana de niebla, ending up with the well-known traditional A la nanita nana.

Perhaps it is the place where they longed for home and the smile of a child reside. Maybe melancholy and happiness, war and peace, maybe mixed emotions that shake hands and congratulate each other, inspire the creativity of two great musicians, maybe this place is called Ewesé.
