A new offering by Jimmy Bidaurreta

February 27, 2012

On the A side, Bidaurreta revives Tómbola,
the popular 70s hit composed by Augusto Algueró and made popular in Spain by
the singer Marisol, giving it a decidedly Latin feel; he also recovers The
Look of Love
(1967), a romantic ballad written by the American pianist and
pop composer Burt Bacharach and sung by Dusty Springfield in the James Bond
film Casino Royale. Both songs are sung here by the Moldavian singer
Viorica, who often collaborates in Jimmy Bidaurreta’s works, and in the case of
Tómbola, the track also features the Gasteiz Big Band, conducted by
Bidaurreta himself.

The B side opens with a surprising
electronic and lounge adaptation of the sound track which Bernard
Hermann created for the masterpiece of thrillers Psycho (Alfred
Hitchcock, 1960), and closes with a sensual track composed by Jimmy Bidaurreta
entitled ser-G. The track is inspired by Serge Gainsbourg and pays
homage to the great figures of French singing, such as Edith Piaf and Jacques
Brel, among others.
