Martins Aneiros Band

November 4, 2023|10:00 pm-11:30 pm

There are many musicians who have their own accent, distinctive on first hearing, coherent, knowing that genuineness always leads to success. The success of being who they are. Unaware of the background noise and siren songs, essentially focused on sharing the victory of being who they are along other musicians who share exactly the same philosophy.

If there is something that defines Victor Aneiros musical career, beyond his obvious artistic talent, it is his determination and coherence approaching each step he has taken. Since his debut, eight albums released and hundreds of performances throughout the country, this Galician guitar player and composer has become one of the leading figures in his own right, giving his career a distinctive accent, crowning it with the launch of this new project alongside singer Paula Martins, who is an artist with impressive performing skills, an extraordinary vocal versatility and has a long career in projects such as Big Bottom Band. She has collaborated with Aneiros since 2008 on his album Héroe Secreto singing Galician emigration anthem “Unha noite na eira do trigo” cover and played live with him in recent times as well. For the making of this recording the line-up is completed by Marcos Sánchez (drums), Fran Rey (keyboards), Victor Gacio (bass) and Alejandro Masafret (bass).

Recorded at Estudio Bajo Cero by Victor Gacio, Rain has a very careful production made by Aneiros, providing the organic and direct spirit required in this style. An album where both the compositions signed by Martins/Aneiros and the covers from other artists complement each other perfectly, moving through contemporary Blues, Soul, Funk, and Rock music right from the first cut on Boring gentleman, halfway between Blues and Rock and reviewing in a Funk beat the singer, guitar player and composer from Chicago Mike Wheeler on I can’t do that. Both the mid-tempo Rain and You are a liar, with Victor Gacio on bass, are again signed by the duo, bringing the dynamic Etta James spirit on Blues is my business. Martins Aneiros Band once again find the perfect songwriting balance on Healthy lifestyle with Fran Rey on keyboards and Victor Aneiros unique guitar playing. Martins’ vocal performance as well as Marcos Sanchez on drums and Alejandro Masafret on bass, excellent rhythmic approach raises the old Hey Bartender Jump Blues essence to another dimension. Just to love me embodies to a large extent band’s overall concept, claiming their own personal sound. The wide catalog of influences and pleasant surprises that this record unfolds along its grooves, materialize on Knock on wood originally composed by Cropper/Floyd and Don’t put your hands on me by the American harmonica player Rick Estrin.

Rain is a record conceived from genuineness, inspired by styles such as Blues, Soul, Rock, or Funk. Martins Aneiros Band is a band formed by that kind of musicians with their own accent, coherent, those who know that success always lies in being oneself.
