NUCLI TRIO + guests perform Laietana Music
The “Ona Laietana”
In 2023, the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Zeleste venue in Barcelona was celebrated. Zeleste was the origin of a record label, one of the first artist management offices, creator of the first Canet Rock among others, and above all the starting point of a new generation of musicians who would set the tone with what was called Ona Laietana. Groups such as Blay Tritono, Orquestra Mirasol, Companyia Elèctrica Dharma, Música Urbana or singer-songwriters such as Jaume Sisa and Gato Pérez are just some of the names that emerged from the Zeleste environment. The album
To commemorate this anniversary, Nucli Trio, a group formed by guitarist Guillem Plana, bassist Aleix Forts and drummer David Viñolas, have the aim of disseminating and rescuing the somewhat forgotten Layetano repertoire, and for this reason they have created this album paying homage to the music of this era. They have also counted on the co-production of the writer and cultural activist Àlex Gómez-Font.
The work has the novelty of the participation of musicians who were part of the Zeleste era:
Miquel Àngel Lizandra: currently resides in the Netherlands where he has established himself as one of the great masters of Latin percussion. He was part of the Mirasol Orchestra.
Eduard Altaba: double bassist, one of the great improvisers. During the Zeleste era he was part of Blay Tritono and Tropopausa.
Jordi Soley: keyboard player, founder of the Companyia Elèctrica Dharma, a group that is still active.
The album also features:
Alba Careta – trumpet and vocals. Restless singer and trumpet player active in several projects.
Jordi Bonell – electric guitar. During the Zeleste era he was part of Secta Sónica and Música Urbana.
In 2023 this music was played live in the regular season of the Nova Jazz Cava in Terrassa and at the Vic Jazz Festival where it was very well received and received good reviews.
Thanks to this, this music was recorded in the Mompou room of the SGAE and later the album was mixed and mastered in the Jezz studios in Solsona by Eduard Gener.

The ‘Ona laietana‘ is a movement that emerged in Barcelona a little more than half a century ago thanks to all the musical currents that converged in this city.
It was in Barcelona where the influences of rock and other genres were first received. It is true that in the fifties it was more ye-ye and twist than anything else: the Mustangs, Los Salvajes, Los Sírex… all Catalan. We already know: at that time the important thing was to sound “modern” and, already in the late 60s, to sound like the Beatles. But before that, since the 1920s, Barcelona had been nourished musically by jazz, and Tete Montoliu stands out among all of them. This whole cocktail is what gave rise to the Ona Laietana.
