Paul San Martin is a performer who far beyond his instrumental skills, has demonstrated his passion for American music throughout his career. Pianist, singer, composer and piano blues tradition expert, his career also embraces a wide range of influences, from jazz, rock and roll, gospel or rhythm and blues to American songbook repertoire. A tireless worker since the early age of fifteen, this pianist from San Sebastian has worked with many artists and played in a large number of projects. Since his time in Stay Blues band to Triz3ps, Soulbros, The Romanticos or Mojo Hand collaborations, he´s shared stage with artists such as Lluis Coloma, Nico Wayne Toussaint, Romain Gratalon or Billy Boy Arnold.
Recorded at Elkar studios in San Sebastian by Victor Sanchez, pianist´s fifth record, keep the same high-quality standards with which he already offered in his previous records (“Tracks”, “Paul’s Moods”, “Paul & Romain Single” and “A French Session”) with Abdell B. Bop on double bass and Romain Gratalon on drums usual contribution joined by The Broken Horns, a brass section made up by Ion Celestino on trumpet, Pablo Maza on tenor sax, Javier Jaukikoa on trombone. An EP in wich Paul San Martin artistic personality synthesizes in three songs a good part of American musical tradition matched by rest of the band. From “Dreaming of my baby” as side “A”, a composition signed by himself in New Orleans purest tradition where it is worth mentioning both The Broken Horns work and Paul´s extraordinary vocal performance. Side “B” opens with the standard “Someday”, written by Louisiana musician and composer Smiling Lewis, and ends up with “Lost without you” a cover originally written by piano blues reference, Memphis Slim.
