Eder Portolés presents E-motion, his debut EP, recorded by a luxury sextet at Mecca Recording Studio (Oiartzun) in a classic style, live in the studio, with that magical sensation that captures the improvised essence of music with an atmosphere of soul, jazz, blues and funk. E-motion is nothing more than the springboard for a beautiful voice, with an enviable—and rare—full soprano range that possesses a great sense of color and adventure. In this case, she is accompanied by great and renowned jazz musicians who contribute through connection and improvisation. The idea is for everyone to contribute from their essence and their feelings with a great deal of improvisation.

Her debut album, E-Motion, was recorded at Mecca Studios in Oiartzun, Guipuzcoa, by Mikel Eceiza, and mixed and mastered by composer and producer Kike Mora. Mora is a musician who has collaborated on some thirty recordings, including K by Kepa Junkera, an album that won a Latin Grammy for Best Folk Album. It is a record with a marked organic character and live feel with excellent production by vocalist, composer, and producer Alain Concepción. In addition to Kike Mora and Alain Concepción, who played electric bass, piano, and synthesizers, respectively, the cast of artists who participated in this album includes Basque guitarist Carlos Velasco. Velasco has released records such as Muy Personal and has collaborated with artists and projects such as Alejandro Sanz, Mocedades, and Armando Manzanero. José Gallardo, a musician who has explored various styles and trends, including acid jazz, soul, and boogaloo, is featured on alto saxophone. He has worked on projects such as Acid Gazz, Ortophonk, and Organiks. The lineup is completed by experienced drummer Ander Zulaika from Guipúzcoa, who has collaborated with artists such as Mikel Artieda, Olatz Salvador, and Eñaut Elorrieta, among others.

Succeeding the release of two advance singles, Lovely Girl and Deeply, two true gems that generated great excitement, E-Motion is an elegant and dynamic collection of original compositions that reveal the personality, sensitivity, and unique voice of its author. The music’s soul and pop sensibilities are on full display, with jazz and other influences adding depth and variety. Songs like Lovely Girl and Deeply showcase this blend, drawing comparisons to renowned singers like Sade and Erykah Badu. This is an album that combines a festive character with reminiscences of disco and blues. This album flawlessly melds a celebratory spirit with disco and blues echoes. Tracks like the I’ve Got to Use My Imagination from Gladys Knight & The Pips showcases a blend of sensitivity and danceability as a contrast to songs like Badakit, a Basque-infused number featuring the virtuoso musician and producer Donny López, a graduate in Musikene and Enlace Funk award winner with his band Rice & Groove. Currently, López is at the helm of his critically acclaimed project, Donny’s Black Shoes. Eder writes Luz de Luna in Spanish with R&B, jazz, and funk clear reminiscences. The album concludes with an excellent rendition of “A Natural Woman” by the late, great Aretha Franklin.

E-motion was born from previous projects where Eder immersed herself in giving a voice to women in the music world and culminates in illuminating her own songs on this album.

Chameleonic and versatile, Eder Portolés sets in motion this magnificent debut record titled E-Motion. A deliberate and conscious movement, one of those that follow the sole purpose of vibrating and making others vibrate, crafted with the emotion of someone fully aware of their own ability to move others.
